France to focus post-corona aid on greener automotive sector

France will soon roll out measures and loans which will focus on building a greener automotive sector in the post-coronavirus era.

Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of the Economy and Finance, has said the support package aims to encourage sales of cars with lower carbon dioxide emissions.

He wrote on Twitter: "I will announce a support plan for the automotive sector within 15 days with support, in particular, for the purchase of clean vehicles. We must make this crisis a lever to accelerate the ecological transition.

"Before the crisis, France was one of the most successful economies in the euro area. When it leaves, we have to become it again with two directions: a competitive, low-carbon economy."
