Major Taiwanese key Apple supplier joins RE100 clean energy initiative

Taiwanese semiconductor giant TSMC, which supplies major electronics companies, including Apple has joined the RE100 clean energy initiative.

The firm has committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity globally by the end of 2050.

Earlier this month, TSMC, which is the 12th largest company in the world by market value, signed what claims to be the 'world's largest corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) from a 920MW offshore wind farm being developed off the Taiwanese coast.

This project is expected to generate annual carbon savings of more than two million tonnes.
