Neste helps three major US airlines shrink their emissions with green jet fuel

Finnish oil refiner Neste has announced it will supply three major airlines with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue Airways have committed to using Neste's blend and have already received their first deliveries within the last few weeks.

The jet fuel is produced from waste and residue raw materials and is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional oil.

Thorsten Lange, Executive Vice President for Renewable Aviation at Neste, said: "Together we’re moving the aviation industry toward a more sustainable future.

Aviation, like many industries, is looking to reduce emissions and increase sustainable practices. Ultimately to make these moves, collaboration, and partnerships like this one are essential for long-term change, and Neste is proud to be working with these major U.S. carriers, who with us are taking a stand for sustainability."

Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel annual capacity is currently 100,000 tonnes. This number is set to increase to 1.5 million tonnes after a refinery expansion in Singapore which is on the way, and a possible additional investment in Rotterdam.
